# Set up journaling in Outlook (Microsoft 365 administrators)

## Create the Microsoft Purview journal rule that sends your firm's email to Archive Intel.

## Before you start

Complete this after email is connected in Archive Intel. You need Outlook (Office 365) Admin access and the Archive Intel journaling email address for your organization.

## Steps

1. Log in to your Outlook (Office 365) Admin account.
2. On the left click **Show All**, then **Microsoft Purview**.
3. Click **Get Started** if it is your first time, then search for **Journal Rules** and select the first result.
4. If a red banner appears, click **Settings** and set an address for undeliverable reports. It must be on a different domain. Then return to Journal Rules. Skip this step if there is no banner.
5. Click **New Rule**.
6. On the top line enter the journaling address from Archive Intel, then select **Everyone** and **All Messages**.
7. Name the rule **Archive Intel** on the second line, then click **Next** and **Submit**.

## What happens next

Once the rule is active, email flows into Archive Intel.

## Common problems

- Mail not flowing: the journaling rule must exist in Purview \> Journal Rules with the address from Archive Intel, scope Everyone, All Messages.
- Red banner in Journal Rules: set an undeliverables address on a different domain under Settings.
