# Reconnect iMessage

## Fix an iMessage connection that shows Configuration Pending or Disconnected.

## When to use this

Use when the connection shows **Configuration Pending** or **Disconnected**. If it shows **Connected**, no action is needed. You need your Archive Intel login and the iPhone with the Apple ID used for the original connection.

## Steps

1. Log in to Archive Intel.
2. Click **Connectors**, select **iMessage**, and read the status next to your phone number.
3. If it says Configuration Pending or Disconnected, click **Connect**. Tip: confirm the Apple ID and password are current by logging into iCloud.com first.
4. Enter phone number, Apple ID and password, then click **Connect** (one-time login).
5. Tap **Allow** on "Apple Account Sign In Requested". Do not tap through the 6-digit code.
6. Enter the code in the six boxes on the computer and click **Submit**. Keep the code popup open on the phone until the code is entered.
7. Tap **OK** on the final confirmation popup.
8. In iPhone Settings, search "Text Message Forwarding" and make sure the slider is green next to Archive Intel.

## Common problems

- Forwarding toggle off after reconnect: Settings \> Text Message Forwarding, slider green next to Archive Intel.
- Apple credentials rejected: verify them at iCloud.com, then try again.
