# Connect iMessage (iPhone)
## Link your iPhone's iMessage and SMS to Archive Intel with a one-time Apple ID sign-in.
## Before you start
You need your Archive Intel login and an iPhone with its Apple ID and password. Archive Intel does not store your Apple ID password; the sign-in is a one-time login.
## Steps
1. Log in to Archive Intel.
2. Click **Connectors**, then select **iMessage**.
3. Click **Connect account**.
4. Enter your phone number, Apple ID and Apple ID password, then click **Connect** (one-time login).
5. On the iPhone, tap **Allow** on the "Apple Account Sign In Requested" prompt. Do not click through the 6-digit code that appears afterward.
6. Type the code into the six boxes on the computer and click **Submit**. Keep the code popup open on the phone and do not tap OK until the code is entered.
7. Tap **OK** on the final confirmation popup.
8. On the iPhone, open **Settings**, search "Text Message Forwarding", select it, and turn the slider on (green) next to the Archive Intel server.
## What happens next
iMessage is now archiving. To choose which contacts are archived, continue with *Whitelist iMessage contacts (iPhone)*. If the status later shows Configuration Pending or Disconnected, follow *Reconnect iMessage*.
## Common problems
- Text Message Forwarding does not appear in Settings: contact support.
- Connection fails or Apple credentials are rejected: verify the Apple ID and password at iCloud.com before connecting.
- Contact Key Verification is on: in Settings tap your Apple Account name, scroll to the bottom, open Contact Key Verification and toggle it off.
- Wrong phone number selected: Settings \> Apps \> Messages \> Send & Receive. Confirm your number is checked and the correct Apple Account is listed at the bottom.
